Notice is given to mariners that the Tombigbee River will be temporarily closed at River Mile 89.9 (Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge) from Monday, 16 March 2026 to Friday, 20 March 2026. The closures will begin at 6:00 a.m. and will end each day at 6:00 p.m. 

The purpose of this closure is to allow Norfolk Southern to repair steel along the bridge and install scaffolding for additional maintenance and inspections. The bridge will continue to operate normally from 6:01 p.m. each evening to 5:59 a.m. the following morning. Vessels that do not need the draw function to clear the bridge may continue to pass underneath, however, the scaffolding installation will reduce vertical clearance by six (6) feet in both the raised and lowered positions.
