AMENDMENT Notice to Navigation: 212945-1, 212945_NTN-04_GI_BRF_2026-01 DREDGING Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, Texas, Freeport to Upper Matagorda Bay in Matagorda and Brazoria Counties, Texas Pipeline Dredging

SITUATION: NAVGATIONAL RESTRICTIONS

Dredge “Enterprise” (Inland Dredging, LLC.) (contractor, Encore Dredging Partners.) will begin 24 hour dredging operations on or about 10 February 2026. Dredging will take place in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) at the intersection of Brazos River and GIWW. This dredging operation will require closure of the Brazos River Floodgates during the designated periods of work. Navigation of the GIWW in these areas may be stopped for a period not to exceed 12 hours. Dredging operations will include weekends and federal holidays.

 

Time of operations will take place from 10 February 2026 thru 05 March 2026, 7:00 A.M. (0700 Hrs.) to 7:00 P.M. (1900 Hrs.), seven days a week.

 

Following the completion of dredging at the Brazos River Floodgates, dredging will continue in the GIWW to the Sargent / Caney Creek area until 11 May 2026.

Contractor’s related floating plant (tender boats, survey boat, and skiff) including submerged and floating pipeline will be used in/around this work area. Dredging material will be placed in several placement areas including Placement Area 88 and river disposal sites south of the GIWW on the Brazos.

 

COOPERATION SOLICITED:

  • Mariners should contact the Lock Master at (979) 402-2888 to confirm the potential hazard condition to minimize their delay.
  • The Lock Master will be knowledgeable of the exact hazard conditions 24 hours.
  • Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made.
  • Communications is to be accomplished via VHF-FM Channels 13, 16 and 66. The Traffic Center guards both Channels 11 and 13 on a 24 hour basis. Respective dredge(s) should be contacted for coordination of passing and movement near operations.
