Notice is given to mariners that Mobile Harbor navigation channel is temporarily closed in the vicinity of buoys 63 & 64 near the intersection of Dog River channel and Mobile Harbor ship channel. Container ship Ruby Tower lost power, ran aground on the east side of the navigation channel, and is currently stationary obstructing all vessel traffic in this area.

The current course of action is to get the ship ungrounded before sunset and begin sailing outbound to the offshore anchorage basin. Once the vessel has been ungrounded and an updated status received from the U.S. Coast Guard, a follow-up navigation bulletin will be posted later this evening.
