Summary of Changes: Both the Auxiliary Chamber and Primary Chamber closures have been updated. Changes to these schedules are required due to unforeseen challenges with the Primary Chamber dewatering. This results in shifting the Primary Chamber Closure three weeks sooner than originally scheduled.
Primary (1,200 ft) Chamber closure – Miter Gate Rehab:
The Primary (1200 ft) Chamber will be closed from 21 August through 30 October 2023 to allow miter gate rehab by the Heavy Capacity Fleet. During this closure, all traffic will utilize the Auxiliary Chamber, except as noted below.
Auxiliary (600 ft) Chamber closure and intermittent closures:
Between Monday, September 11th and Wednesday, September 13th, the Auxiliary (600 ft) Chamber will have one 12-hour closure to support the miter gate leaf removal on the downstream side of the Primary (1200 ft) Chamber. During this closure, all traffic will stop. The Heavy Capacity Fleet will occupy the Auxiliary Chamber during this time.
Between Monday, September 11th and Friday, September 15th, the Auxiliary (600 ft) Chamber will have three additional closures up to 4 hours so the Heavy Capacity Fleet can install the anchorage pins without pool fluctuations. During these closures, all traffic will stop. The Heavy Capacity Fleet will not occupy the Auxiliary Chamber during this time and traffic will resume immediately when the gate leaf is secure.
The Auxiliary (600 ft) chamber will be closed from 30 October through 17 November 2023 to allow miter gate repairs by the Heavy Capacity Fleet. During this closure, all traffic will utilize the Primary Chamber.
